More people are killed by bee stings, or lightning per year than by terrorism in the USA. What will it take to declare this “War On Terrorism” over? There can be no Battleship Missouri scene with articles of surrender.
After WW2, Ike warned of the Military-Industrial Complex. He was dead on. Eisenhower was perhaps the single best qualified man to have witnessed the awesome power of American’s enterprising economy, industrial capacity under rational management, harnessed to create and maintain an overwhelming military establishment.
Instead of demilitarizing after WW2, we cooperated with the Soviet Union to impose a Two Power system, each reining supreme over its allies, and threatening its citizens for more and more diversion of wealth to the military. So no return to the old commercial/agricultural/ industrial Republic occurred after WW2. After the Cold War, surely we would return to our peacetime footing? No.
The Military-Industrial-Security Complex knows no other way. Americans who recall the pre-WW2 days are becoming fewer. And even they have had their memories formed by the Great Depression. Essentially we have NO one alive who can recall the prosperous Roaring Twenties, with its (relative) laissez-faire Calvin Coolidge economy.
EuroTrash love to call America “Rome” to their “Athens”. Au contraire. Athens was, the Naval Power that defeated the Persian assault upon The West at Salamis, assisted later by the Land Power, Sparta. The War was over the islands and coasts of Asia Minor (Turkey of today). If any analogy can be made it is: Persia was like the Axis Powers. The islands and coasts were like the European nations that surrendered before the Third Reich and the Asian colonies that surrendered to the Rising Sun. Athens, the sea power, is America and the Angloshpere. Sparta, the totalitarian land power is Russia. After the Persian Wars were over, there was jockeying for power between Sparta and Athens. Athens’ Fleet, was composed of many voters, and had much political influence upon the Athenian State’s foreign policy. They made sure the navy remained powerful. Alliances made with the small islands of the Aegean and with colonies in Sicily in the Persian Wars were strengthened. But without an external threat, the members of the League soon saw no reason to send rich treasure to Athens to pay for their share of the Fleet. The Fleet then came to exist in order to attack the islands that did not pay their annual fees. The Athenians “rose” from a first among equals in a mutual defense league, to an empire. The oppressed islands appealed to the only other independent power, Sparta. Sparta too, was beginning to feel threatened by the power of Athens and hence The Peloponnesian Wars. Wars, which left Athens destroyed, smoldering, struck with plagues, Sparta mortally weakened, and the entire Hellenic World at the mercy of the Macedonians. Philip of Macedon easily conquered the weakened City States. His son Alexander The Great succeeded him.
Alexander is perhaps the archetype Anti-Christ. “And I saw, and behold, a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. Revelation 6 . He was said to have entered the Holy of Holies of The Temple in Jerusalem. His successor Antiochus Epiphanes was the one who desecrated the Temple in what would set off the Maccabee-led revolt and its culmination in the Hanukah Story.
Alexander and Persia are squaring off again. This time each is nuclear. Alexander is the West; Persia is obviously Iran, but also Russia, China, and the East in general. Persia will push once too many times and … well read Daniel.
Daniel 8: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Daniel+8+&version=KJV&src=embed1In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.
2And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river of Ulai.
3Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last. These horns are interpreted as referring to the Persians and The Medes.
4I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.
5And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes. “ And touched not the ground.” Is this not a clear description of a modern military imposing its power from a distance, even over the horizon?
6And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power.
7And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.
8Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.
9And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.
10And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.
11Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down.
These verses have been interpreted as referring to the untimely death of Alexander and the division of his Empire amongst his generals. One of the Hellenistic Kingdoms took the territory of Israel and Syria. The end of the verses expands the nature of this Prince, from one of human power to one of Heavenly Power. His sounds much like the Dragon in Revelation being thrown from Heaven and taking one third of the angels with him.
The Vision is explained in the later verses of the same chapter, 8, of Daniel.
3And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.
24And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
25And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
26And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.
Given the analogy elaborated above, of Athens, Sparta, Persia and the Medes, and Alexander and his successor Kingdoms, it becomes clearer that indeed, Alexander is an archetype of The King Of Fierce Countenance. If the history is analogous then WW2 was like the Persian Wars, the Cold War was like the Peloponnesian War. We are on the brink of seeing an Alexander wield a mighty military power with which to finally end the pushing and probing of Persia. But this “Grecian” or EU, or NATO Power will then gain control of the Beautiful land.
The King of Fierce Countenance will take control of Jerusalem and the Holy Place. For how long?
13Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
14And he said unto me, unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. Alexander lived and warred in the 4th century BC. We are now about 2,300 years from that time!
Can it be said that after Antiochus the Temple has remained desolation and trod down all this time? What about the Hannukah rededication? The Macabees quickly fell into wickedness. The High Priesthood was bid upon. The Herodian Dynasty was the final “flourish” of the Macabees. So, it is not impossible that from the desolation of Antiochus Epiphanes, the Temple never was truly clean and Holy again.
This is why, Osama Bin Laden dead or alive is irrelevant. The Power of The East is rising in the wake of the exhaustion of America. America is beset by parasites and Lilliputians, bleeding us and tying us down in thread fascicles that in their number are like iron chains. Persia will push at the West once too many times. NATO and the US will understand that their military power is all that is left of their greatness, and that as our economies spiral down, the power of the West relative to the rest will never again be as great as it is now. The calculus is to strike soon or never. It looks like “soon”. Iran will attack Israel with its proxies, and even with its own ballistic missiles. NATO/EU/UN/ will attempt to protect the civilians in Hezbollastan behind whom the rocket launchers will hide. The same “responsibility to protect” will be enforced over Hamas in Gaza and Fatah in Samaria and Judea. Israel will either have to fight NATO, or accept a Sovereign “Palestine” protected by NATO no fly zones. If they do not fight NATO, and I doubt even a Sharon would have the stones for that, they will have to submit to a division of the Land. And of course the Internationalization of Jerusalem and the UN control of the Temple Mount, will follow. In return, Persia will be savagely pummeled into compliance. When the Russians and Chinese decide that the West has gone too far, all the nations will reel in a death dance around Jerusalem.
